POLOKWANE - The Police multidisciplinary operations conducted weekly in all Districts of Limpopo, have resulted in the arrest of 1255 suspects aged between 20 and 58 for cases including, murder, attempted murder, robberies, rape, sexual offences, sexual assaults, possession of suspected stolen vehicle, possession of suspected stolen properties, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition with additional, 135 suspects for Contravention of Disaster Management Act.

* Members of the Limpopo Highway Patrol, nabbed a suspect aged 32 for possession of suspected stolen properties, on 19 August 2021 at around 18:00 in Tubatse. This after, the police received information regarding the illegal connections of electricity around the area. They followed the information and found the suspect at the identified address. He was in possession of items including, meter boxes, cables, Eskom uniform, transformers, link stick, Eskom registers and certificates, all with an estimated value of R1200 000.00.

* A 62-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of suspected stolen vehicle at Dennilton. Police were patrolling the area when they, spotted a suspicious Toyota Avanza parked  along the road. They approached the vehicle with only the driver,  searched and circulated it. The vehicle was then linked to Jane Furse theft case that occurred  during January 2016.

* On 19 August 2021, Police arrested a 29-year-old suspect linked to armed robbery incident that took place during April this year at Dennilton Policing area.

* Two suspects aged 28 and 29 were arrested for possession and dealing in illicit cigarettes, on 19 August 2021 at Lebowakgomo. Members were patrolling when they noticed a  street hawker selling illicit cigarettes from his shelf. They approached and searched him, they found 22x cartoons of Remington Gold with street value of R3000. The suspect then pointed out the person he bought the illicit cigarettes from, and the dealer aged 28 was also arrested. He was found with 11x Remington Gold cartoons and 20 filter of Remington Gold, with street value of R2000.

* Two suspects aged 25 and 28 were apprehended at the fuel station at R101 road. On 18 August 2021, at about 19:30 police received  information about suspects involved in business robberies and car hijackings around Capricorn District. They immediately followed the leads and the suspects were arrested.

* On 17 August 2021 at around 20:00, Police received information about the stolen motor vehicle at Brooklyn, Gauteng province travelling towards Polokwane. The vehicle was spotted at Saselamani and tactically stopped. The 53-year-old suspect was arrested on the spot for possession of suspected stolen vehicle.

* Three suspects aged between 20 and 25 were arrested, on 19 August 2021 during an operation at Ga-Selala village, for business burglaries committed during July and October 2020 at Ratanang Secondary school. Police recovered items including, tablets,. Keyboard, projector board and a projector.

*A 46-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of gold concentrates during an operation activated in the Giyani policing area on 18 August 2021. The other Items that were recovered include Phendukas, Generator, Picks, Mottos,  Pressure pump machine, borehole pumps, hammers, bags containing presumable gold materials, portable radio, shovels, rolls of electricity cables with the estimated value of R100,000.

The following confiscations were made during these operations: Counterfeit cigarettes 4384 sticks, 22 dangerous weapons, 510gr dagga, 360gr Nyaope, 05 Firearms, 1 198 447ml liquor, 37 Knives, 05 stolen and robbed vehicles recovered.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, hailed the concerted efforts of the Police in eradicating crime in the Province and also acknowledged the community members for continuously working with the police by providing positive information to assist in the apprehension of the criminals.

Some of the arrested suspects have already started to appear before different Magistrate's Courts. The operations are continuing.
