PROVINCIAL COMMISSIONER ORDERS INTENSIFICATION OF SEARCH OPERATION TO LOCATE MISSING GIRLS: POLOKWANE

POLOKWANE - The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered the mobilisation of relevant resources to intensify the search  operation for two minor girls who went missing on 23 August 2021 at about 17h45 from Marobjane village in Senwabarwana policing area.

The siblings, identified as Kamogelo Raphasha aged 7 and her younger sister Tshegofatso aged 6 years were reported missing in the afternoon of Tuesday 24 August 2021, a day after they disappeared. The two girls reportedly left home in the company of their relative, a 26-year-old woman who is said to be mentally retarded.

A search operation by the local police, the K9 Unit  and community members ensued and went on throughout the night. The said relative was found by the police during the search operation, standing at a bus stop at ga-Teffo village. On Wednesday 25 August 2021, the operation was joined by the Search and Rescue Unit and the Airwing where a police helicopter assisted in the search.

The search operation will be intensified in the areas such as Avon, Pickum, ga-Machaba, ga-Rammutla, Bull-Bull, Mashaleng and Lethaleng as well as the adjacent bushes. All relevant resources will be deployed to assist in the search operation.

Lieutenant General Hadebe has also called on SAPS platforms such as FCS Detectives, Women’s Network, Men for Change and all Senior female Police officers to voice their disapproval for the disappearance of Kamogelo and Tshegofatso, using the Slogan “We shall not rest until the two are found!, "Our girls are our pride, hands off them,” and also raise their hands in supporting the operatives in their quest to locate these children.

“As we continue to intensify our search operation, we also call on all community members in the identified areas to assist the police in this search. A call is also made to anyone with information on the whereabouts of these children to contact the nearest police”, concluded Lieutenant General Hadebe.

The children were last seen wearing brown and khaki tracksuits. Anyone with information may contact Captain Albert Manaka on 082 414 6634, Constable Frans Seema on 079 8401 780, the Crime Stop number 0860010111, the nearest Police Station or MySAPS App.
