Hard work paid off for Paddock detective Sergeant Micheal Mzwakhe Msizazwe when two suspects who were being investigated for murder, were sentenced.

On 3 April 2021, a 49-year-old man was brutally murdered on a farm in Paddock. His throat was slit and he sustained multiple stab wounds.  Some of his body parts were also removed. Intensive investigations and information led to the arrest of two men on Tuesday 13 April2021.

Both accused were denied bail and appeared on several occasions in the Port Shepstone Magistrates' Court.  On 7 September the Pietermaritzburg High Court convicted both men of robbery with aggravating circumstances and murder.

Sakhile Enock Ncama (25) and Bethuel Funokwakhe Ncube (26) each received a sentence of 25 years imprisonment for murder and 15 years imprisonment for aggravated robbery. UGU District Commander for detectives within UGU, Brigadier Bongani Sibiya, is extremely pleased with the outcome of the case. He expressed his confidence in the high standard of investigation that resulted in this good conviction.
