DUO SENTENCED FOR SANDTON MURDER BY JOHHANESBURG HIGH COURT

Sandton: Station management and community applauded the job well done of the investigation led to the conviction of two murder suspects by Johannesburg High Court on the 20th September 2021.

Phiwankosi Mkhize (25) and Luvo Nhliziyo (31), both from Kliptown in Soweto were  sentenced as follows: count1: murder for 20 years, count 2: housebreaking and theft for 5 years, count 3: robbery with aggravating for 15 years imprisonment, count 4: fraud for 8 years and count 5: attempted of theft of a motor vehicle for 5 years imprisonment. The sentence includes the Jeppe fraud case.

Mkhize and Nhliziyo plotted the housebreaking at 344 Summit Road for days which lead to the murder of the owner of the house on the 29th May 2017. The victim was held in the house and viciously killed. Both suspects were arrested in June 2017.

Detective Sergeant Rulph Lebea attached to Sandton SAPS Trio Crimes who was leading the investigation in his team worked around the clock to make sure that all loop holes are covered and collected evidences are presented before court.
