WESTERN CAPE: 22 SEPTEMBER 2021 - Lockdown II, an initiative to bring stability to crime affected areas of the Western Cape is proving its worth with several suspects finding themselves behind bars.

Yesterday during the deployment of Lockdown II forces in Masemola Drive in Khayelitsha the members came across three suspects perpetrating a robbery, and holding a motorist at gunpoint. The members reacted and managed to arrest a 21-year-old suspect who was found in possession of two wallets and an iPod. The other two suspects managed to evade arrest and are being sought.

Stop and searches were conducted in Harare which resulted in the arrest of a 19-year-old suspect who was caught with an imitation firearm under suspicious circumstances.

In Wesbank in Mfuleni four knifes considered to be dangerous weapons were confiscated during stop and searches and in Delft a 19-year-old suspect was arrested, also in possession of an imitation firearm found under suspicious circumstances.

Once interrogated and charged, the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in Khayelitsha and Blue Downs to face the charges against them.
