“BOOT IT OR LOSE IT” CAMPAIGN SANDTON IS CALLING ALL THE MOTORISTS: SANDTON

Sandton: Sandton police members and community attached to Social Crime Prevention, Sector Policing, Corporate Communication and Youth Crime Prevention Desk are engaged to the campaign called “Boot it or lose it.

This weekly activity campaign is focusing mainly on reducing theft out of motor vehicles, smash and grabs that are taking in the shopping centres/malls, road intersection/ traffic lights and stop streets.

The purpose is to sensitize the community and visitors of Sandton that they to take care of their properties and vigilant all the time they are driving in the area.

Personal items like cellular phones, laptops, firearm, ipads, bags, laundry or any other valuable items must be not left in the car exposed/visible.

Boot It or lose campaign will be encouraging following sage tips:

-       Avoid parking where there are no security/ others cars.

-       Make sure all the doors are properly closed and locked before you leave your car.

-       Physical feel the doors that are closed to make sure.

-       All items such as bags, laptops, cameras and any other boot it before departing.

-       Do not open windows for hawkers along the road and intersections.

-       Have your key ready in your hand as you approaching your car.

-       Never open your window when talking to stranger-5 cm is enough

-       Vary your route when travel to and from work if possible.

The Station Commander of Sandton SAPS is requesting the community to work with police and other law enforcement agencies to discourage criminal activities in Sandton policing precinct by report to CRIMESTOP 08600 10111 or Sandton SAPS 011-722 4200.
