Nelspruit: 29 September 2021 - Members of the South African Police Service at Kanyamazane and Pienaar are on high alert following the closure of some roads due to a protest earlier today, Wednesday, 29 September 2021 at the said areas. The protesters reportedly made use of buses and trucks to close the roads which resulted in failure to use the roads by other motorists.

The police as well as other role players were alerted about today's event and are working hard to address the situation.

The protest was possibly fuelled by an incident which occurred in the evening of Friday, 24 September 2021 whereby a 58 year old taxi driver was fatally shot meanwhile his crew sustained some injuries after being shot as well.

The police at Kanyamazane are still probing the shooting incident after a case was opened and a manhunt for suspects launched. An investigation team was assembled and these members are working hard to ensure that the suspects are swiftly put behind bars.

No one has been arrested as yet and the SAPS members at Kanyamazane urge anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or send information via MYSAPSAPP. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela has pleaded with the community to work together with the police in ensuring that the suspects are brought to book by providing information that will lead to their arrest.
