The UGU District Commissioner, Major General Sethenya Nxamagele thanked all who attended the occasion especially church leaders. The General stressed the need for God’s intervention in the lives of the police members as they carry out their duties in stressful and dangerous environments. The prayer day was to recognise all those fallen heroes and to remember the legacies they have left behind. She also prayed for unity within all levels of the organisation and wisdom for SAPS leadership.

Other matters of prayer were police killings, gender based violence, members in hospital and who have experienced trauma and tragedies relating to deaths and suicides.

General Nxamagele also stressed the need for members to work within the confines of the police policies and unions to support members in this regard.
