Bothasig: On 22 October  2021 the great bond between SAPS Bothasig and Cedar Spar, Bothasig was cemented even stronger when the partners embarked on the Christmas in October Dignity project.

Staff and friends of Cedar Spar, supported by members from SAPS Bothasig, attended an outreach project, Christmas in October, with the aim of reaching out to members from the community and spoiling them with a super food parcel.

The group met up at Cedar Spar Bothasig and under escort by SAPS Bothasig challenged the blustery weather by walking to Bothasig police station, where the event was hosted, as group. One of the friends of Spar was a great fan of the police siren, which was put to good use by Capt Anel Botes, leading the procession!

On their arrival at Bothasig police station the walkers had a quick moment to have something cold to drink before the final setup was completed and the gang ready to assist the invitees.

Communications Officer, Warrant Officer Jacques Mostert welcomed everyone on behalf of the station commander and mentioned how chuffed SAPS Bothasig was to have a partner of the calibre of Cedar Spar, who are always willing to partner in projects, and also very proud of the way Cedar Spar supports the local community. Spar manager Janice Scrimgeour informed the group regarding the Christmas in October Dignity project and shared some motivational words with the invitees. She also mentioned that the project was to be an ongoing one.

After the formalities the invitees were treated with well stocked food parcels handed over by staff from Cedar Spar with owners Jonathan Barnes and Shaun Scherer leading from the front. The recipients were amazed and thankful by the gesture as they did not expect it. When they were invited they were informed regarding a surprise awaiting them, but no other details were forthcoming, which really made them curious.

The timing of the event was down to the minute as according to one of the attendees mentioned that a quick bust of rain at the end was a blessing from above. The invitees were in very high spirits when they left and very complimentary towards SAPS Bothasig and Cedar Spar.
