DOOR TO DOOR AWARENESS CAMPAIGN IN BRYANSTON-SANDTON

Sandton: Police members in Sandton attached from the components of Sector Policing, Social Crime Prevention and Communication took the campaign to the street, door to door this morning sensitizing residents about house robberies and burglaries taking place in the complexes in Bryanston.

The officers distributed pamphlets with safety tips of house robberies and burglaries as we approach festive season. The team engaged with body corporates people to those complexes were targeted in the past two months repeatedly in order to strengthen the security within their premises.

Some of safety tips shared based to home security were:

  • Many people gain access by tailgating,
  • ensure the gate is closed properly,
  • make sure that there are no gaps for a person to slide in,
  • don’t leave the garage open or partialy open-it serve as an invitation to burglars,
  • only open the windows that have secure burglar bars,
  • always confirm who is the visitor before letting him/them in,
  • motion detectors-equip your property with a top rated home security,
  • the yard lighting enough at night,
  • be wary of service providers and
  • have a proof of identity of your employees.
