Muizenberg:  Members of Muizenberg SAPS in Cape Town are doing everything they can to ensure that their streets are clean by putting criminals behind bars. On Wednesday 01 December 2021 at approximately 08:10, Constable Adams and Constable Mlengwana were busy with crime prevention patrols in St Boniface Street in the Hillview area when they noticed a suspicious male standing next to a container.

On noting the police, the suspect immediately turned and tried to evade the SAPS members. The members gave chase and apprehended the suspect between the shacks nearby St Boniface Street. The suspect was searched and found to be in possession of a 9mm star pistol with the serial number removed, 2 magazines and 15 rounds of ammunition.

The 14-year-old suspect, a resident of Hillview, was arrested and detained at Muizenberg on charges of prohibited firearm and unlicensed ammunition.

“Our job is to ensure that our communities are safe again and we will do everything we can to make this happen.” said the two constables.

The Station Commander of Muizenberg SAPS, Colonel Vassie Naidoo commended his members on the arrest but was very perturbed at the age of the suspect who was arrested. The Colonel further stated that gangsterism knows no age and urged parents to ensure that their children are kept safe.
