CAPE TOWN: FOUR FOREIGN NATIONALS ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF ENDANGERED PLANTS

Team work and dedication of the police and other security agencies has led to the arrest of four foreign nationals who were found in possession of endangered succulants or plants in Algoa Road in Milnerton.

This came out as a result of a joint intelligence operation between Malmesbury police, Kuilsrivier Stock Theft and Endangered Special Unit (STESU) Sanparks Cape Town, Vredendal Crime Intelligence, National Intervention Unit Cape Town and Cape Nature which was held on Friday 18 February 2022.

The suspects between the ages of 19 and 27 were arrested. The arrests was effected after the police members searched the premises and confiscated 25 000 different species, an undisclosed amount of cash, four cellular telephones and a Chevrolet Aveo.

The four were expected to make their first appearance in Cape Town Magistrate Court on Monday 21 February 2022 on a charge of possession of flora without documentation.
