ZWELITSHA: 12 May 2022 - The efforts by SAPS members and their K9 buddies in the fight against crime continue to yield positive results. 

On Tuesday, 10 May 2022 at about 19:10, Uitenhage K9 members and officials from a private security company acted swiftly after receiving a complaint about stolen property in Nicholl Street, Kariega.  On arrival at the address, members spotted a suspicious white LDV bakkie.  The driver sped off when he noticed police however with the assistance of the private security company, the vehicle was forced to stop. 

Investigations revealed that the fencing that was in the back of the bakkie was stolen from Transnet. Three suspects were arrested. The three males (ages between 18 and 35) are due to appear in the Kariega magistrates’ court on a charge of theft today, Thursday, 12 May 2022.  The value of the stolen fencing is R6000.

Last night, Wednesday, 11 May 2022 at about 23:00 Uitenhage K9 members immediately followed up on information received about dagga that was stored at a house in Siviwe Crescent, Kwanobuhle.  WO Jacques Adlem utilized his K9 Texa who discovered various bags containing dagga inside the house.  The bags were confiscated and two male suspects (ages 46 and 47) were detained on a charge of illegal possession of dagga.  A total weight of 16,24kg dagga worth R32 500-00 were handed in as evidence.  These two suspects are due to appear in the Kwanobuhle Magistrates’ Court during the course of this week.
