ZWELITSHA: 17 MAY 2022 - An intelligence driven operation led to the recovery of firearms, and the arrest of suspects following a shootout in Walmer, Gqeberha last night.

On Monday, 16 May 2022, a task team that was formed to combat the proliferation of illegal firearms in the Nelson Mandela District operationalised an intelligence information. Later that evening, a team pounced on a house in Siwisa Street, KwaZakhele. It is said that on police arrival, an occupant managed to flee. After completing the scene, the same team proceeded to a second house in Ntakumba Street, Walmer (Gqeberha). The seized firearms will be sent to ballistics for further analysis.
