SUSPECTS HEADING TO COURT ON FIREARM AND BUSINESS ROBBERY RELATED CHARGES: WESTERN CAPE

WESTERN CAPE: 19 MAY 2022 - Efforts to bring perpetrators of the law to book yielded positive results when members of Worcester police arrested five suspects between the ages of 26 and 40 yesterday, 2022-05-18, for the possession an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, business robbery and possession of presumed stolen property.

The members received information about suspects that was heading towards Worcester after they perpetrated a business robbery in Riebeeck West earlier. The vehicle was stopped and searched and a 9mm pistol with ammunition, cigarettes and a undisclosed amount of cash were found in the vehicle.

The suspects will make their court appearance in the Riebeeck West Magistrates’ Court tomorrow on the mentioned charges.

In an unrelated matter members of the Maitland Flying Squad and the K9 Unit responded to a complaint of a business robbery in Kleinvlei yesterday morning. The suspects were chased by the members after they fled the scene of crime. A 9mm pistol with no serial number were confiscated. Two suspects aged 30 and 31 were arrested on charges of business robbery and the possession of an prohibited firearm and ammunition.

The suspects will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court once they have been charged.
