POLICE CONTINUE TO CLEAN UP STREETS FROM DRUGS, MAN BUSTED FOR DEALING IN DRUGS: NELSPRUIT

Nelspruit: 20 May 2022 - The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga,  Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has continued to commend members for their resilience in the battle against crime, citing that these efforts somehow contribute positively in winning back public trust. This comes after a drug bust by police whereby a male suspect, aged 26 was arrested with a large volume of alleged drugs yesterday morning, Thursday 19 May 2022 at Delmas.

According to the report, police at Delmas were notified by concerned citizens about drug peddling activities at a certain house in Nkatini, Delmas. The police responded and vowed that such acts will never be allowed to carry on in their precinct under their watch hence they sought for a search warrant which was granted to them. Thereafter a sting operation was planned and executed.

It is said that on the day in question at about 03h30 am the men and women in Blue raided at the said house where they found the suspect in possession of alleged illegal substances. The man was arrested and the substances seized, which include 26 sachets of alleged heroine, 21 bags containing suspected rock cocaine, 4 other small bags containing dagga weighing about 172,4 grams of dagga as well as R435-00 cash. The suspect was charged for possession of illegal substances and he is expected to appear at the Delmas District Court today, Friday 20 May 2022.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga,  Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has further expressed her contentment in the pace in which police in the province are moving in battling substance abuse as well as the circulation of drugs in the society. "If we can continue like this, we are confident that community will continuously support our efforts of fighting crime. On the same tone, we are so appreciative to the public for the information they provided us with, which resulted in this commendable success" said the General.
