SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE: NELSPRUIT

Nelspruit: 19 May 2022 - The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga,  Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has expressed her gratitude to the calibre displayed by the men and women in Blue when it comes to the eradication of crime in society. The expression by the General comes in the wake of a good story whereby a reported stolen vehicle was recovered by the police this morning, Thursday 19 May 2022 at about 10:30 am at Komatipoort. 

According to the report, members of the police from Komatipoort K9 Unit were busy with their normal duties and whilst conducting patrols at Hectorspruit, they spotted a suspicious vehicle, a silver grey Jaquar XF with two male occupants.  

The said car reportedly had Mozambican registration number plates and when the astute members verified its authenticity, they realised that it was reported stolen in January this year (2022) at Meyerton (in Gauteng Province). 

The two, aged 34 and 42 respectively were then arrested and charged for possession of suspected stolen property. The preliminary investigation has since revealed that the two suspects are Mozambican citizens with passports and when they were caught by the police on the N4 Road, they were heading towards the direction of Mozambique. 

The two will have their first court appearance at the Komatipoort Magistrates' Court tomorrow, 20 May 2022 facing the said charges.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has further indicated that the province has a formidable troop, consisting of a determined members who always have the interest of the community at heart. "We hope that the public can see the good work and commitment that these members are displaying and that in turn, communities will play their part of assisting police with valuable information about crime and the whereabouts of suspects" said the General.
