In celebration of Child protection week, the South African Police Service, Rand West city Traffic police, Westview drug rehabilitation clinic, department of health, department of Community safety,  Victim friendly room, Man as safety promoters (Masp),Women as safety promoters(Wasp), youth desk and community the policing forum  visited Kamogelo primary school in Simunye ext 4.

The aim is to raise awareness on the rights of children and to ensure that the most vulnerable do not suffer abuse and at the same time work in alivating the circle of neglect and abuse.

School safety is often a critical obstacle to learning. Crime, violence and abuse affect all aspects of our community and schools are not always free from fear, intimidation or victimisation.

Learners were addressed on bullying, rape and sexual offences, theft, drugs and substance abuse. A search was further conducted to the grade 7 learners who were said to be problematic in school. They were encouraged to respect and love themselves and their school so that they can be able to respect their teachers.

On behalf of the school management, the learner welfare coordinator Mrs Phyllis Ntsoelengoe thanked and extended their gratitude to their entire team for the support displayed."  Let us unite in raising our kids to better their tomorrow as she concludes."
