SUSPECTS HEADING TO COURT ON HIJACKING AND POSSESSION OF IMITATION FIREARM CHARGES: WESTERN CAPE

WESTERN CAPE: 30 MAY 2022 - Members of Maitland Flying Squad arrested three suspects in the early hours of Sunday morning on charges of possession of a hijacked vehicle and possession of an imitation firearm. They were busy with patrols in Bonteheuwel pursuing information pertaining to a  hijacked vehicle. When the driver of the hijacked vehicle noticed the patrol vehicle, he sped off with police in pursuit. The police members brought the vehicle to a standstill and searched the suspects. Three males aged between 17 and 19 were arrested and detained on charges of possession of a hijacked vehicle and possession of an imitation firearm. .

In an unrelated incident members of the Ocean View police were busy with patrols on Saturday evening (2022-05-28) when they noticed a vehicle parked next to Larkspur Court, Milky Way, in Ocean View. Upon approaching the vehicle, a male jumped out of the vehicle and ran with police members giving chase. The suspect was apprehended and searched, and found in possession of a 9mm pistol with ammunition.

Once charged, both suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Bishop Lavis and  Simon’s Town Magistrates court on the mentioned charges.
