KLERKSDORP: 4 June 2022 - The District Commissioner of Dr Kenneth Kaunda, Major General Suzette Pretorius welcomed 40 years imprisonment sentence given to Ramphadidi Motseki (35) by the Potchefstroom Regional Court last week, for two counts of rape.

It transpired during the trial that the convict had drinks with the victim, aged 43, at Marikana informal settlement, Promosa in December 2021. The woman left to go to her place and Motseki followed her. Just after the woman had entered her house, Motseki pushed the door and forcefully gained entrance into the house. He undressed the woman and raped her, then fell asleep immediately thereafter. He woke up the following morning and threatened the victim with death before leaving to work. Upon coming back from work, Motseki raped the woman again.

The matter was eventually reported to the police a week later. As a result, Motseki was arrested three days later and the bail was successfully opposed. He has been in custody since his arrest.  The sentences of 20 years imprisonment for each count of rape, will run independently.
