Nyanga police officers have joined forces with Nyanga Youth desk and other stakeholders to embark on Child Awareness Programmes as part of Child protection week where they visited a number of schools both primary schools and high schools in Nyanga area.   

The programme was kick-started on Monday 30 May 2022 at Imvula Primary and Oscar Mpetha High School.  On the following day the second stop of the programme was in New Eisleben High School and in New Eisleben High School and Imbasa Primary school.

The Nyanga Child Protection Week wrapped up on the Ist June 2022 and 2nd June 2022 with the visit in Ntsebenziswano High School and Bongolwethu and the final stop was in Sinethemba High School and Mzamomhle Primary School.

 Captain Heinz and Cst Nandi Mpengesi have been the livewires behind to organise the programme which was aim to educate and empower children about the dangers of crime which include child kidnappings, sexual assault, substance abuse,  GBV and child pornography.

Other stakeholders who played a huge role in the event included FCS Unit, Neighbourhood Watch, Epilepsy SA, Kakaza Disability group. Cesvi  and CSA.

With the provincial launch of the Child Protection Week took place in Gugulethu Sport Complex on the 31 May 2022 under the auspices of Gugulethu SAPS where the Provincial  Commissioner Lt Gen Thembisile Patekile assured leaners who included pre-school going kids that police would do anything to protect them.
