WESTERN CAPE – A 26-year-old suspect who is linked in the De Doorns robbery is set to appear in court tomorrow at the De Doorns Magistrates' Court facing charges of armed robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of ammunition and unlicensed firearms.

This follows his recent arrest by members of the Hawks’ National Priority Violent Crime (NPVC) team in Bellville. The suspect was arrested following investigations into a cash-in-transit robbery that took place on 03 January 2022 in De Doorns.

It is alleged that Fidelity guards collected cash at Unika Power Trade, Glenco Street, De Doorns. As the crew member left the premises, he was approached by a suspect with a 9mm pistol, who was accompanied by another suspect. The said suspect grabbed the bag and the firearm of the crew member before they fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect was traced, identified and is currently incarcerated in prison on unrelated charges.
