PARKTOWN - The detectives from the South African Police Service (SAPS) continue to remain committed to ensuring that those who commit serious and violent crimes, including murder, are brought to book to account for their deeds.

Late last month, the Vosloorus Magistrates' Court sentenced 32-year-old Casca "Bobo" Mukapa to 15 years imprisonment for murder.

Mukapa was arrested in Somalia Park Informal Settlement on 02 September 2019 by members of SAPS Dawn Park, the same day he stabbed and fatally wounded a man in the area.

The case was assigned to Sergeant Phelelani Mhlongo, a detective at SAPS Dawn Park. Sergeant Mhlongo diligently collected all the available evidence which led to a water-tight case, followed by the successful conviction and sentencing of the accused in court. The sentencing was welcomed by the Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela.

"I am pleased with the standard of investigation and commitment shown by our detectives in Gauteng. This hefty sentence will send a strong message to those who think of committing similar offences" said Lieutenant General Mawela.
