POLOKWANE: Monday 13 June 2022 -The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo province Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has commended the men and women in blue following the arrests of 1164 suspects during the ongoing operations that were conducted between 5 to 12 June 2022.

The suspects were arrested for various offences that included murder, attempted  murder, robberies, rape 11, sexual assault, robbery with weapon other than firearm, sexual offences, burglary business, stock theft, fraud, theft of motor vehicle, illegal Possession of firearm and ammunition amongst others.

A 48-year-old woman was apprehended in Seshego outside Polokwane for allegedly being in possession and dealing in dagga.

Police were conducting patrol duties when they received information about a woman who was selling dagga at her house and quickly rushed to the said place. Upon arrival, the house was searched and Police discovered two compressed dagga with an estimated street value of R2000 hidden inside a wardrobe and she was immediately arrested on the scene for possession and dealing in dagga.

Members of the Limpopo Highway Patrol (LHP) were patrolling in Lebowakgomo policing area when they received information about a male suspect who was selling drugs to the public at his rental room and immediately proceeded to the scene. On their arrival permission was granted to search the room.

Police discovered 17 blue sachets of Nyaope and 03 plastic bags wrapped with Rock drugs and cash money. The suspect aged 46 was immediately nabbed after admitting that he got the money from dealing in drugs.

Police proceeded to another house in the same vicinity after receiving information about a suspicious house that was also dealing in drugs. A 35 year-old male suspect was arrested on arrival after being found in possession of 12 sachets of Nyaope drugs and 06 packets of illicit Remington Gold cigarettes amounting to R1500. The suspect was charged for possession of drugs and illicit cigarettes.

Another success was achieved by the members of Limpopo Highway Patrol (LHP), Vehicle Inspection Unit and Capricorn District First Responders following the apprehension of the most wanted male suspect who was sought for a spade of robberies, car hijackings and theft in the Capricorn District.

The suspect was arrested in Makgofe village while hiding inside the house. Police discovered one pick, three R5 rifle ammunition and a long pellet rifle which was believed to be used to commit these crimes  in the district.

Two gang leaders aged between 20 and 23 who were terrorizing the community of Mamaolo village outside Lebowakgomo were arrested at their residence for possession of two unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The suspects were apprehended following a tip-off from members of the community about their location after they committed a spate of robberies and house breakings in the area.

During the arrests police seized counterfeit cigarettes, dangerous weapons, large quantities of dagga, drugs such as Cocaine Powder, Crack Cocaine, Crystal Meth,  Khat, Mandrax powder, Nyaope, Twelve  firearms, large quantities of liquor, and fourteen stolen or robbed vehicles.

The arrested suspects have already appeared before their local Magistrates’ Court.
