Bothasig: On 22 July 2022 SAPS Bothasig was the host of a Tygerberg Cluster road block in Vryburger Avenue Bothasig.
Members of SAPS, supported by members from the City of Cape Town’s Traffic and Law enforcement departments, as well as local Community in Blue members set up a road block with the aim of crime prevention in the area.
Motorists in Bothasig were very impressed to see the large contingent of members enforcing the law and were very complementary thereof. During the road block vehicles were pulled over and various checks done in terms of licencing of vehicles and drivers and some of the vehicles were also searched when officers were looking for items such as drugs, firearms, possible stolen property or any other illegal items. The friendliness and professionalism of the members were reciprocated by the motorists who thanked them for a job well done.
Unfortunately for some motorists, the friendliness of the members did not deter them from executing their duties, as a total of 155 vehicles were pulled over. 41 Vehicles were searched and various traffic fines to the value of R15 700, 00 were issued.
The operation also served to raise awareness and offer crime prevention tips for crime tendencies such as housebreaking (residential), garage burglaries, house robberies, as well as bullying.
The SAPS Bothasig Head of Visible Policing, Capt Anél Botes thanked everyone participating in the road block for taking the time to ensure the safety of the Bothasig community. She mentioned that the great partnership by SAPS, the City and the community can only be a benefit for all communities and thanked them for it.
