WESTERN CAPE: 29 AUGUST 2022 - On Saturday morning 2022-08-27, at about 01:45 Sea Point SAPS members were conducting a vehicle check point in High Level Road, Sea Point when a vehicle was stopped and the driver requested to produce his driver’s licence.
The driver of the vehicle was reluctant to do so and appeared to be on edge. He was requested to get out of the vehicle and upon searching him and the vehicle they found a cigarette box, containing 10 little plastic packets containing what appears to be cocaine inside.
The male was arrested for dealing in drugs and appeared in the Cape Town Magistrates' Court on Monday 29 August 2022. In an unrelated matter on Friday, 2022-08-26 at about 23:00, Anti Gang Unit members were busy doing visible patrols when they received information that firearms are kept at a house in Waterval Street, Tafelsig.
The members followed up the information received and operationalised it. Whilst the members were busy searching the house they recovered a silver and black Taurus 9mm pistol of which the serial number was removed, and one 9mm magazine with seven rounds.
An 18-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of prohibited firearm and ammunition. The suspect will appear in court once charged.
