FREE STATE: Wednesday, 05 October 2022 - The Acting Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in the Free State, Major General Solly Lesia flanked by Maj Gen Apaphia Modise, Deputy Provincial Commissioner Crime Detection and Provincial Head of Crime Intelligence Maj Gen Agnes Makhele held two special meetings earlier this week to announce the appointment of 5 (Five) hard working, highly dedicated and loyal members of the service into new managerial positions.
On Monday 3 October, Maj Gen Lesia announced the promotions of Major Generals Masebueng Meriam Mochologi and Liesbeth Matobako. They were previously Provincial Heads of Visible Policing and Finance and Administration Services respectively. Maj Gen Mochologi becomes the new District Commissioner of Overberg in the Western Cape while Maj Gen Matobako joins SAPS Headquarters in Pretoria responsible for salaries.
The following morning (4 October) three more appointments were announced. Brigadier Christoffel Johannes Van der Merwe is Provincial Head of Serious and violent crimes investigation, Brigadier Marriet Makhosazane Ntuli is Head of Commercial crimes investigation and Brigadier Khedamile Godfrey Ntlati is Provincial Head of Police emergency and flash. The latter is a merger of Provincial Emergency Services (PES) and Firearms, liquor and second-hand goods (FLASH) to form the new provincial component which Brig Ntlati will head. These appointments are in line with the broader SAPS priority to fill critical vacancies and realign policing to the demands of the day.
Maj Gen Lesia congratulated the senior managers on their promotions and pledged the support of provincial management. “We are confident that our internal capacity will allow us to carry on with the work while we manage these changes,” he reassured.
