POLOKWANE: 17 October 2022- A 27-year-old suspect was arrested and AK47 assault rifle recovered after a swift action and well-coordinated operation of members from Mokwakwaila Crime Prevention Unit and Tactical Response Team following a house robbery that took place in Modjadjiskloof outside Tzaneen today, Monday 17 October 2022 at about 13:00.
The victim was reportedly outside the house at Macnoon Estate and she allegedly decided to go back into the house but was suprised to find the door locked. She then decided to use the other entrance and that's when she was allegedly accosted by an unknown suspect who pointed her with an Ak47 rifle, demanding the car keys.
The suspect then drove off in the victim's KIA Picando motor vehicle. Police were notified and immediately responded. The vehicle matching the same description of one that was robbed earlier, was spotted in Ramoroka village under Bolobedu policing area. The vehicle was tactically stopped and the suspect was arrested. Police then recovered the AK47 assault rifle.
The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has applauded the swift action of these members which led to the arrest of the suspect and recovery of the firearm.
Further investigation will be conducted to determine how did the firearm, which belongs to the owner of the house, got stolen.
The suspect will appear in the Tzaneen Magistrate's Court facing charges of house robbery and unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition.
