EASTERN CAPE - The Mthatha Serious Organised Crime Investigation of the Hawks is appealing to the public to come and identify their livestock which is impounded in a municipal pounding station.
During March 2022, Mthatha Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit team received an anonymous phone call from a person reporting that at a certain valley in the rural areas of Mount Frere in the Eastern Cape, there were stray animals (cattle) suspected to have been stolen, considering the size of the herd.
The herd was transported to a municipality pounding station for safe keeping. People who might have lost their cattle in areas such as Qumbu, Tsolo, Mount Frere, Mount Fletcher, Matatiele and Libode may come forward to identity their livestock.
