ALLEGED BUSINESS ROBBERS REMANDED IN CUSTODY: KWAZULU-NATAL

KWAZULU-NATAL – Two accused, Sifiso Mbulu (45) and Mhlonipheni Dazela (33) briefly appeared in the Ezinqoleni Magistrates' Court today following their arrest by the Port Shepstone based Hawks' Serious Organised Crime Investigation. 

They were arrested for business robbery which happened at Ithala Bank in Ezinqoleni Central Business District on 1 September 2022.

It is alleged that the two accused accosted security guards at Ezinqoleni Shopping Mall, tied them up and gained entry into the bank. The accused used a grinder to cut open the safe and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen. They then fled the scene in their getaway vehicle.

A case of business robbery was reported at Ezinqoleni police station. Mbulu and Dazela were later arrested in different locations around the South Coast. 

They were remanded in custody and the case was postponed to 9 November 2022.
