DURBAN: 29 November 2022 – On 16 November 2022, the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit together with Bhekithemba police operationalised information about suspects in possession of drugs and firearms at Umlazi. They proceeded to an identified premises and conducted a search. Police recovered an AK 47, a R4 rifle, 220 rounds of ammunition as well as various drugs.
Philani Sikhosana (31) and Sumeya Mabaso (36) appeared before the Umlazi Magistrates Court on 25 November 2022 for being in unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, possession of drugs as well as possession of a suspected stolen vehicle. They were remanded in custody until 30 November for bail application.
On 28 November 2022 the same team proceeded to Amanzimtoti where they executed a search warrant during a search of the premises the police officers recovered cocaine and heroine capsules with an estimated value of R142 000. Two suspects aged between 29 and 32 were arrested and will appear in court soon.
