PRESERVATION ORDER GRANTED FOR VEHICLE OF THE ACCUSED: FREE STATE

FREE STATE: The Hawks' Priority Crime Specialised Investigation (PCSI) with NPA  Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) has successfully secured a preservation order of a Mercedes Benz to the value of R40 000.

The Bloemfontein High Court on Thursday, 01 December 2022 has granted a preservation order emanating from a case of rape and trafficking in persons. It is alleged that on Friday, 18 June 2021 the female victim was offered work as a domestic worker at his house of the accused who is also known to be a pastor, Simon Galada (55). Some of her duties was to take care of the a four year old son the accused.

The accused took the victim to his house and explain to her that she must look after his son on Friday, 18 June 2021 as he will be in Thaba Nchu for church during that night. It was reported that the suspect never went to church that night. He instead repeatedly raped the victim throughout the weekend. The victim manage to get hold of the phone of the accused on Sunday, 20 June 2021 where she immediately called SAPS 10111 to seek for help which led to the arrest of the suspect.

Galada remains in custody since his arrest, meanwhile his vehicle allegedly used in the commission of crime. He is expected to appear before the Bloemfontein High Court on the 16 and 27 January 2023.
