“Thixo lungisa umntu ongutata ukuze kulunge imizi yethu nesizwe sethu- loosely translated as God guide all men, for the good of our families and our nation,” these words were uttered by Reverend M Khiwane when he was doing a prayer to open Men’s Dialogue in Worcester.
The dialogue which was exclusively attended by men was hosted by Cape Winelands District police on Wednesday 18 January 2023 at Zwelethemba High School.
Both young and old men which included new- initiates of Xhosa and Sotho tribes who have just graduated from boys to men have formed part of the deliberations.
“Let us not sugar coat this, we should admit all of us as men we are the perpetrators of domestic violence and we should stand up and defend our name by mobilising each other and fight this scourge.
We should start by leading in our families and our relationship by good exemplary conduct.”
In addition he said it is also a duty of men to protect all the vulnerable groups as brothers, fathers, uncles inside and outside our families.
