Nelspruit: 04 February 2023 - Vicious robbers detonated some explosives thereby injuring three petrol attendants aged between 40 and 54 at a certain fuel station in Acornhoek. This incident is said to have occurred in the early hours of Friday, 03 February 2023 around 01h00 am as robbers sought for cash from a safe.

According to the information, on that fateful day petrol attendants were on duty when a group of suspects stormed into a fuel station at Cottondale Trust near Bushbuckridge. The petrol attendants were shocked by the sudden arrival of the suspects who shouted, whilst instructing them to open the door of the premises where the safe was.

Out of fear, they did not open and that was when the suspects reportedly detonated some explosives to open the safe whilst petrol attendants were still inside, causing serious damages of the premises. This also resulted in serious injuries sustained by these employees. The suspects then managed to get inside and helped themselves with an undisclosed amount of cash from the safe before they fled the scene, leaving petrol attendants trapped.

The police as well as medical personnel were called to the scene and upon arrival they found the three employees bleeding with wounds all over their bodies. The three were then taken to hospital for medical treatment meanwhile police opened a case of robbery with three counts of attempted murder as additional charges. No one has been arrested so far and police are in pursuit of the suspects.

Members of the public are urged to alert police on their whereabouts of the suspects by calling Detective Lieutenant Colonel Aaron Digoro on 082 318 9925.
