GAUTENG – The Hawks' South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB), jointly with Flying Squad, and East Rand Stability Unit arrested two individuals for dealing and possession of dagga on Friday, 17 February 2023.
The team intercepted a blue Opel Corsa bakkie which had just arrived at a house in Ext 19 Tsakane. The vehicle in question was laden with firewood. Upon close inspection, the search uncovered that underneath the wood there was a consignment of compressed dagga.
Preliminary questioning revealed that the vehicle drove into the country from Swaziland. Brothers, Bongiseni (25) and Banele Shabangu (25) from Swaziland were arrested on the spot.
The trio appeared in the Tsakane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 20 February 2023. The case was postponed to Tuesday, 28 February 2023, for verification of status of the pair in the country.
