POTCHEFSTROOM: 6 March 2023 - The police in Potchefstroom request the community’s assistance in identifying the driver of a silver Mercedes hatchback sedan and a bakkie.

On Saturday, 18 February 2023, a father and his friend were walking on the Mooibank Road at about 22:50, just outside of Potchefstroom. They pushed two bicycles and a 5-year-old boy was sitting on the frame of one of the bicycles. The child sustained severe head injuries and was taken to a local hospital where he is in a critical condition.

The driver of the Mercedes Benz did not stop after the collision and took off with a bakkie driving right behind it. A reckless and Negligent Driving case is under investigation.
