Nelspruit: 09 March 2023 - Two suspects aged 35 and 32 were arrested in Witbank yesterday, 08 March 2023 after being allegedly found in possession of copper cables as well as for damaging essential infrastructure.
According to information, the joint venture between members of the Police in Witbank and security guards from various companies were on duty yesterday, around 04h00 am, when they spotted a suspicious white Ford bakkie at Blancville suburb in Witbank with two occupants. They tried to stop the vehicle, but the suspects sped off in a high speed heading to the CBD area. The team stopped the suspects and upon searching the vehicle they found copper cables worth R10 000 at the back of the bakkie. That was when the suspects were arrested and charged for being in possession of copper cables. During investigation it was discovered that the copper cables were reportedly stolen at Panaroma Primary School in Witbank.
The two are expected to appear in the Emalahleni Magistrate’s Court today, 09 March 2023 facing the carge of theft of copper cables as well as for damaging essential infrastructure.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi has welcomed the arrest and appreciated the collaboration displayed between SAPS members and security guards.
