WESTERN CAPE: 13 MARCH 2023 - Police members deployed in the Western Cape to combat crime, pounced on pre-identified addresses on Sunday 12 March 2023 and arrested four suspects on charges of possession of unlicensed and prohibited firearms and ammunition and possession of drugs.
Police members attached to Operation Restore were busy with stop and search operations in Enkanini informal settlement. When the convoy entered Nozinga Street, they noticed an unknown male who became restless when he saw the patrol vehicles. The members approached the male and searched him, confiscating a 9mm pistol with ammunition. The 25 year old man was arrested and detained on a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
In an unrelated incident, police members of the Anti-Gang Unit responded to information and searched an addresses in Moosa Walk in Parkwood where they confiscated a 9mm Pietro Beretta pistol and ammunition and arrested and detained a 36 year old male on a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
Meanwhile part of the platoon approached a nearby house in Moosa Street. Upon arrival at the address, they met an unknown male and searched him, confiscating 70 mandrax tablets and ammunition. They arrested a 23 year old man on charges of possession of ammunition and possession of drugs.
Furthermore the police members proceeded on foot to an address and conducted a thorough search of the entire premises. They noticed an unknown male who tried to flee the scene. The police members gave chase and searched the male upon which they confiscated a 9mm Glock pistol with ammunition . The 16 year old male was arrested and detained on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Khayelitsha and Wynberg Magistrate courts on the mentioned charges.
