SUSPECTS WILL FACE COURT SOON FOR THEIR CRIMES: WESTERN CAPE

WESTERN CAPE: 07 MAY 2023 - The endeavours of Western Cape police to bring the perpetrators of serious and violent crimes to book saw the arrests of suspects for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and attempted murder. In the early hours of Sunday morning, 07 May 2023 members of the Anti-Gang Unit searched a premises in Algoa Court, Hanover Park after information was received of a firearm that is hidden on the premises.

The information was followed up and the members found a 38 Special revolver without a serial number in the house. A 35 year old suspect was arrested and detained for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition. An adult male was also arrested for two attempted murder cases which occurred in the Philippi policing precinct.

On Saturday evening, 05 May 2023 members of the Anti-Gang Unit deployed in the Strand policing precinct searched a premises in Petunia Street, Strand and arrested a 34 year old female for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The members conducted an intelligence driven operation on the premises and found a 38 Special revolver with ammunition wrapped in a skirt hidden under the stove in the kitchen.

Once charged the suspects will make their respective court appearances in the Athlone and Strand Magistrates’ Courts.
