WESTERN CAPE: 16 MAY 2023 - Members of Steenberg Crime Prevention Unit executed a search warrant at a identified premises in Sullivan Street, Steenberg at about 16:57, yesterday, (Monday, 2023-05-15) and upon searching the premises they found a .38 Special revolver with ammunition in the house. A 25-year-old man was arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He is due to make a court appearance in the Wynberg Magistrates on Wednesday, 2023-05-17 on the mentioned charges.
In an unrelated matter on Monday, 2023-05-15 at about 09:40, Strand SAPS members received information about drugs and firearms that are being kept at a premises in Liberty Street Strand. With the help of the Crime Prevention Unit they operationalised the information and found , firearm parts, an assortment of ammunition and drugs. Three suspects, aged 23, 41 and 43 were arrested at the premises for the illegal possession of firearm parts, ammunition and drugs.
They are due to appear in the Strand Magistrates court soon.
