SLAMMED WITH 15 YEARS DIRECT IMPRISONMENT: EASTERN CAPE

EASTERN CAPE – King William’s Town Regional court sentenced Lindile Mnyaka (51) on 14 June 2023 for numerous charges of fraud. During the period between November 2016 and June 2017, Mnyaka being an employee at Jamange Investment unlawfully, falsely and intentionally created a fraudulent loan applications on existing clients. The clients on realising the decrease in their investment balances, quiried the balances with the investment company.

The matter was then referred to the East London based Serious Commercial Crime Investigation of the Hawks for probing which confirmed that the clients were indeed prejudiced more than R1.6 million. Mnyaka was thus arrested in 2017.

He made his first court appearance in King William’s Town Magistrates’ court where he was released on R5000 bail.  After a series of court appearances in King William’s Town Regional court, he was ultimately slammed with 15 years direct imprisonment with no option of a fine and was further declared unfit to possess a firearm.

The Provincial Head Major General Mboiki Obed Ngwenya once more lauded the expert detection skills by the team in ensuring the retributive sentence.
