PROVINCIAL COMMISSIONER CELEBRATES MANDELA DAY IN GALESHEWE

The Provincial Commissioner of the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, was in Galeshewe in Kimberley this morning, 17 July 2023 where she celebrated the birth of the world icon, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela at the Tlhabologo Inclusive Day Care Center. 

Mandela Day is commemorated annually on 18 July across the country and internationally.People all over the world celebrates Mandela Day and contributes 67 minutes of their time for community service to honour the legacy of the late icon. 

Lt Gen Otola was accompanied by her team that comprised of the Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Policing, Major General Luntu Ngubelanga, Women's Network, police women and men, as well as civil servants from various provincial components, Galeshewe and Kimberley SAPS. 

The Provincial Commissioner and her delegation handed over gifts to the school which included a baby cot, sanitary towels, nappies, groceries and stationary. 

In her response to the good deeds by the police, the principal of the school, Mrs Maureen Tsiu, expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the team.  She also handed to the Provincial Commissioner, a thank you note from the school, that also had children’s handprints.

The short programme was directed by Captain Olebogeng Tawana from the SAPS Provincial Pro-Active Policing.

Mandela Day will be celebrated under the theme, " The legacy lives on through you: Climate, food and solidarity.”
