POLOKWANE: 18 July 2023 - A joint effort in partnership Policing led to an arrest of a 34 year-old male for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm at Nebo Policing precinct during the ongoing Mandela Day Celebrations conducted on Tuesday 18 July 2023. According to Police report the Station Commander Colonel Manasoe together with the members and Community Policing Forum (CPF) Officials were busy with the preparations of the 67 minutes of Mandela Day Celebrations when they were summoned at Riverside village.
Preliminary investigations indicated that a member of the CPF Sub-Forum identified a male suspect who was allegedly in possession of a firearm and immediately alerted the Police who rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, a 34 year-old male was pointed and handed over to the Police while in possession of an unlicensed firearm and two empty cartridges which were seized during his arrest.
"I would like to thank the good partnership displayed by everyone in this instance which led to swift apprehension of the suspect who was certainly going to commit unknown crimes with the firearm. Let's continue to rid this Province of any criminality " concluded the Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Nebo Magistrate court soon facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm.
