WESTERN CAPE: 24 JULY 2023 – Operation Shanela, our high density police initiative comprising stop and searches, roadblocks, vehicle check points, high-visibility patrols, the tracing of wanted suspects and compliance inspections at liquor outlets, and second-hand goods dealers resulted in the arrest of 2576 suspects during the past week in the Western Cape.
The figure of 2576 included arrests for the following serious offences:

All the arrested suspects, are expected to make their court appearances in different courts once they have been charged, while the next leg of Operation Shanela is planned.
