2023/08/10      |  Written By:  Lieutenant Colonel S Kock   |   Province:  Northern Cape

KIMBERLEY : 09 August 2023 - The Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Crime Detection, Maj Gen Mmantsheke Lekhele and her females at the provincial detective environment raised their hands to sacrifice their women's day on 09 August 2023 and render services at the Kimberley and Galeshewe Community Services Centre's.

Maj Gen Lekhele reiterated that we celebrating women's month under the theme "Accelerating Socio-Economic opportunities for women's empowerment" hence we have to let go of our comfort zones and have all hands on deck in fighting crime.

This year's women's month theme reminds of the 20 000 women that marched to the Union Buildings 67 years ago on 9 August 1956 to protest against the Pass Laws. These women showed us that women must refrain from folding their hands in comfort but rather seize every possible moment and stand firm against Gender Based Violence and Femicide.

Gen Lekhele and the ladies assisted in registration of case dockets, affidavits, certification of documents and also empowered the SAPS members by presenting in-service training regarding processes relating to GBVF.The ladies were all dressed in black, not as a symbol of mourning but to affirm authority, strength and professionalism as they embarked on a day of enhancing service delivery to our communities at our Community Service Centre's of the SAPS. Enjoy the rest of women’s month.
