POLOKWANE DIVISION OF HIGH COURT MET OUT ANOTHER LENGTHY JAIL TERM TO A 26 YEAR-OLD NEBO MURDER ACCUSED: POLOKWANE

POLOKWANE: 11 August 2023-On Thursday 10 August and 2023, the Polokwane Division of High Court meted out another lengthy sentencing to a 26- year- old male convicted for the murder of his girlfriend in Masehlaneng village under Nebo precinct.

The accused, Confidence Masemola was sentenced to Twenty (20) years imprisonment following a pleading verdict about an incident that happened on Saturday 20 August 2022.

It is reported that on Friday 19 August 2022, the accused telephonically agreed to meet the deceased Promise Dolamo aged 17 at Masehlaneng village the next day on Saturday afternoon.

The couple met and decided to depart from the victim's village and walked to the accused residence at Kome village, five kilometers away from Masehlaneng village.

While walking in the bush, the duo had an argument and Confidence unexpectedly picked up a stone and assaulted his girlfriend multiple times on the forehead. Unfortunately, the victim sustained severe wounds and died instantly. Afterwards, the accused called the Nebo SAPS and informed them about the incident.

Police rushed to the vicinity and met the suspect along the main road who pointed the lifeless body of a 17-year-old girl in the nearby bushes. The members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were also summoned at the scene and officially declared the teenager dead upon their arrival.

The suspect was apprehended on the scene and never granted bail until being sentenced after pleading guilty for the murder of Promise Dolamo.

The Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has applauded the sterling work that was executed by the Detective Investigating Officer Sergeant Frans Mathibe Chego attached to Groblersdal Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.
