Two suspects aged 30 and 39 are expected to appear before the Bethlehem Magistrates’ Court on 18 September 2023 for contravention of Tax Administration Act 28 of 2011. This comes after they were served with court summons on Friday, 18 August 2023.
A preliminary probe by the South African Revenue Services (SARS) uncovered the suspects’ alleged tax evasion which resulted in SARS losing more than R4 million. The incident took place during the period between June 2019 and February 2021.
The matter was then reported to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team based in Bethlehem, culminating in the summons being served and court appearance of suspects secured.
