DEWETSDORP: 24 August 2023 - Parkweg Stocktheft Unit, working together with the Bloemfontein Flying Squard, arrested four people for stocktheft near Dewetsdorp. Bloemfontein Flying Squad on Wednesday 2023-08-23 at about 03:00 received information on a lookout for a white Toyota Quantum taxi, possibly having stolen livestock in it.
The team, following information from the Parkweg Stocktheft Unit, rushed to R702 between Dewetsdorp and Bloemfontein. The vehicle was spotted and a high-speed chase ensued. The relentless Flying Squard members managed to block and stop the vehicle. Upon searching the kombi, four suspects aged between 30 and 40 were arrested after 22 Marino sheep were found stacked in the Quantum minibus. The value of the sheep is about R52 000.
The four will appear in the Dewetsdorp Magistrate Court soon for possession of suspected stolen livestock and theft of livestock.
