POLOKWANE: 04 SEPTEMBER 2023 -The South African Police Service in Limpopo continue to display their commitment against crime as 1397 suspects were arrested during Operation Kukula conducted simultaneously across the Province, since 28 August to 03 September 2023.
Suspects were arrested for various offenses, including murder, rape, robberies, dealing in drugs, contravention of immigration Act, burglaries, transgression of Domestic violence Act, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. During these operations at five Districts, the SAPS was joined by other law enforcement agencies and Stakeholders. Operations were executed through tracing of wanted suspects, blue light patrols, visibility, roadblocks, stops and searches, raiding of liquor outlets, compliance inspection at second-hand goods dealers, among other actions. They confiscated 192 860 counterfeit sticks, 51 dangerous weapons, 4 120 grams of dagga, 0,73 grams of crystal meth and 1331 fines issued.
In addition, 417 436ml liquor confiscated, 06 robbed or stolen motor vehicles were recovered, 106 drug related suspects were nabbed, and 21 for Transgression of Domestic Violence Act.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe is extremely proud of the law enforcers who persistently remain resilient in their duties of fighting against criminal activities.
Some of the suspects have already appeared before their respective Magistrate's Courts.
