TWO DETECTIVES BRAVELY ARREST SUSPECTS INVOLVED IN STABBING INCIDENT: SOMERSET WEST

Station Commander, Colonel Jacolize Fleischmann commended the officers for their bravery in arresting two suspects responsible for a stabbing incident yesterday, 5 September 2023 at the Somerset West Court.

Yesterday the two detectives visited the Somerset West Court at 10:20 in an unrelated matter when a women come running to them for assistance. Her son, 23 year old man was overpowered by two suspects. The members immediately left the court building to assist the screaming women. She informed the members that her son was taken by two men and that they are going to kill him. The detectives drive to the circle of Huising and Caledon Street when the 23 year old man was found with several stabbing wounds. The man was stabbed 4 times. The suspects fled the scene.

The injured man was put in the vehicle while the members drove in the area in search of the suspects. With the assistance of members of the public one suspect was found in Malan Street and the other one in Drama Street. The injured man was taken to Helderberg Hospital by police and was later transferred to another Hospital for medical attention. Injuries to his eye and chest.

The members, Detective Warrant Officer Andry Lottering and Detective Sergeant Warren Pietersen ensured that the injured man is well taken care off and that both suspects was arrested. Detective Branch Head, Lt Col Sizakele Hantibi states that the members executed an arrest before the case was registered. He commended the members for the outstanding arrest and ensuring that those responsible is held accountable.

The suspects age 18 and 19 years old is facing a charge of attempted murder and will appear soon in the Somerset West Magistrate Court.
